Herculaneum

The eruption of the Vesuvius that destroyed Pompeii in 79 D.C. hit the city of Herculaneum too with a flow of dirt and lava. But unlike Pompeii, the city of Herculaneum preserved wooden buildings and any sort of goods. So for archeological studies is a very important place. Sculptures, paints, vases and so on are now in the “Archeological Museum of Naples” and in the “Antiquarium”. This city was important and flourish during the Roman Empire. A lot of famous people, like Caesar and Cicero have had a holiday home here.
